| About Pack 61 | For Your Information | Album |
Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America has included younger boys through its Cub Scouting program. Pack 61 offers a year-round program for boys in the 1st –5th grades and their families. Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the ten purposes of Cub Scouting, which are:
| 1. Character Development | 2. Spiritual Growth |
| 3. Good Citizenship | 4. Sportsmanship |
| 5. Family Understanding | 6. Respectful Relationships |
| 7. Personal Achievement | 8. Friendly Service |
| 9. Fun and Adventure | 10. Preparation for Boy Scouts |
During your son’s Tiger year, the program is designed for parent and child to participate as a team. The Wolf and Bear years bring increasing independence with parent participation that varies according to the current project. In the Webelos1 and Webelos 2 years, the parent focus shifts from participation in den activities to guidance along the scouting path. At the pack level, at least one adult member of each scouting family is expected to help with at least on pack activity per year. Some parents volunteer as den leaders, while others prefer to help with the Pinewood Derby (particularly dads) or with the Blue & Gold Dinner (especially moms), or with one of our other events. Some volunteer positions require several hours of involvement each week, others may require as little as an hour or two spent on a yearly event. We can find a task to fit any schedule!
